obtaining a parents birth certificate in the UK from Australia?

I'm looking to apply for a British passport and seem to be eligible, apart from the problem of providing my mothers UK birth certificate, whom i no longer have contact with. Now i know that if she was born in Australia, there would be no problem obtaining

You need her father and mothers maiden name ,date of birth if you don't know exactly where she was born just put as close as possible and then apply on line through the registry office and you shouldn't have problem.
